Studio One Academy of Dance & Drama
Studio One Academy of Dance & Drama combines the elements of dance and drama into an enjoyable but educational atmosphere for the beginner to advanced students. Our school specializes in preschool, tap, ballet, jazz, hip hop, lyrical, toe, drama, and technique from beginner to advanced. Our classes are opened to all ages because we feel “you are never to young or to old to learn.”
At the end of the year, dance and drama are combined into a show, not a recital. We pride ourselves into making a show that is pleasurable to all. A performance which highlights all of our students love of dance! No matter what age or ability. Each year our show is designed around a central idea, where we incorporate 4 or 5 scenes that highlight the theme. Our drama, tap, and jazz companies all contribute to making the shows a huge success!
All students have the chance to participate in our June production. Show dates and ticket prices will be announced within the year when show dates are confirmed from Massasoit Community College. Our costumes are ordered in November specifically for each child, if a child withdraws you will be responsible for the costume balance. Therefore all costume deposits are non-refundable and all balances are due before April 1st.
Studio One’s Philosophy is to instill the love of dance and bring out the best in all of our students. We recognize the fact that every child has their own unique talent and we certainly appreciate this fact. Our goal is to support and develop all of our students dance education throughout the year, to build on their creativity, to add to their confidence, and to develop poise as a dancer. We take pride in ourselves with providing a happy enjoyable family atmosphere.
Studio Policies
Attendance: Students are enrolled for the dance year from September to June. All absences are paid for regardless the reason. Makeups are given up to Christmas after which time each class is working on its own routine. If your child withdraws from the studio you are responsible for all lessons until the studio is notified in writing.
Shoes: All students are required to have proper dance shoes at all times throughout the year. Preschool to Basic Dance wear white taps and white ballets. Older students wear black tie taps, tan lyrical shoes, and black jazz shoes.
Observation: Parents and friends are not allowed in the classroom while in progress. This is not only for the benefit of your child but also for the other students.
Attire: All students are required to wear proper dance attire every week. Anyone who does not wear proper attire will be asked to sit and observe the class for that week. All younger students must wear a leotard and tights. We do not require any color, it is your choice. Other students who choose not to wear a leotard must wear black dance pants, dance shorts, a tank top, and/or a fitted shirt nothing baggy. Hair must be pulled off of your child’s face at all times.
